SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
MINISTRY TRAINING

WHY EVANGEL SCHOOL OF MINISTRY?

Evangel’s School of Ministry core axiom is “That you may live”.  It is drawn from the scripture in Philippians 1:9-11 (NLT) where Paul prays for the Philippian church encouraging them to grow in love, knowledge, understanding, and action so that they may truly live lives pleasing to God. ESOM is also a great introductory school into ministry training.

The school of ministry is also designed to help students navigate through three unique challenges that this new generation faces.

  1. Firstly, we recognize that the transition from youth/young adult ministry to the larger church body is a difficult one with few relationships to carry it through.  ESOM is designed to connect you relationally and missionally to the wider church.

  2. Secondly, we recognize that the world of young adults is increasingly hostile to the Christian faith.  ESOM exists to equip our students to face that world confidently, both intellectually and spiritually.

  3. Finally, we recognize that some may be feeling a call to ministry but aren’t entirely sure.  ESOM provides the opportunity to test the waters of God’s call in a part-time, informal environment.

MISSIONS

There is something about a mission trip that cannot be taught in a classroom.   It is a tangible ministry training experience that challenges you to implement everything you’ve learned and compels you to love and walk in obedience.  You gain perspective and come home changed.  Each ESOM student will engage in a 2-4 day local missions expression within Kelowna during December.  They will also prepare for and engage in a 7-10 day global missions trip to Guatemala which occurs in late April or early May.

 SCHOOL OF MINISTRY TEAM

Pastor Barry is the director of Evangel School of Ministry.  He has served children and families for nearly two decades and is now eager to engage the young adults he used to engage as kids so they can enter life confidently in Christ! He is dad to three incredible kids and husband to the best person he’s ever known. Pastor Barry longs to see the church take the Great Commission seriously in response to the unfathomable beauty of the Gospel of Jesus.
