WORD FROM THE PASTOR
We are so glad you’ve joined us. If you are visiting with us, please take a moment to fill out one of our Connect Cards and hand it in to the Information Desk in the West Foyer. We will be happy to offer you a free drink from Connexions Café. If you are interested in finding out more about Evangel, consider joining us for our next Welcome to Church Party on September 22 at 11:30 am in the Fellowship Room. We will serve a nice lunch and share a little bit about our vision for the church.
If you have children, we have great programming for them on Sunday mornings. Make sure to check your children in at the EC Kids Kiosk in the East Foyer.
Please take time to read through this newsletter to find out what’s happening at Evangel this month. Our website is another great place to find out what’s going on.
Whether you are new to Evangel or one of our regular attenders, we are so thankful for you and want you to know that you are loved by God and your life matters. As you worship with us today, may you sense God’s presence and peace.

Our theme this Fall is The Connected Church. How can a church with people from so many different backgrounds and demographics come together as a unified force for good in the world? That question provides both a challenge and an adventure that we want to explore together.
We will use as our guide Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth, known today simply as 1 Corinthians. I like what N.T. Wright has written in his book, Paul for Everyone: 1 Corinthians:
Paul’s first letter to Corinth – a lively seaport where people and cultures of every sort jostled together, just like so many places in our world – is full of wisdom and challenge. The young church there was as lively as the place itself, with many questions and problems – and as much joy and excitement – as any church today. Paul’s pastoral sensitivity and deep insight come together to make this letter one of his crowning achievements, full of good things for us to ponder and enjoy today.
Corinth was a place, not unlike today, where it was easy for people to feel disconnected, even in the church. We want to look at some of the reasons why that feeling exists and how a focus on Christ and one another can move us from disconnection to connection.
As always, if you miss a Sunday you can catch the sermon online at www.evangelkelowna.com/sermons.
