Shalom (Part 1) Personal Shalom

Will Sohnchen

This morning we are beginning a new series entitled Shalom.  This is a beautiful Hebrew word that is translated peace. But it carries with it a deeper meaning.  To experience shalom is to experience... “harmony, wholeness, completeness, right relationships with God, others, self and the earth.”

The Bible says that Jesus came as the Prince of Shalom and He has asked us to be His shalom-bearers in the world.  Jesus said, "Blessed are the shalom-makers."  I like what Carolyn Arends has said about this: “When God is inviting you and I into this role of shalom-making, what He is doing is to include his children in the family business.”

This morning we will consider joining God in the family business by experiencing shalom in our personal lives.
