Serve - "At Any Cost"
Today the message is entitled At Any Cost. Faith is costly and when living the life of faith, we can easily get sidetracked by heartache, diversions or pain. Jesus calls us to keep our eyes on Him.
A few years ago, I can remember a particular time I was down by the ocean watching the waves as they rolled onto the shore. As the surf retreated, I watched thousands of tiny glistening pebbles rolling end-over-end. I picked up one of the stones and noticed how it had become perfectly round by the constant movement of the tide and the waves. I began to think about how often our own lives are moulded and shaped by the pounding of the waves of life.
There is an old hymn written in 1873 by a man named Horatio Spafford. He had just received word that his wife and five children had all died at sea as a result of a sinking ship. Though grief-stricken, he managed to write the following words:
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Is it well with your soul today? Despite any difficulties are you keeping your eyes on Jesus?
The life of faith is costly, but Jesus can turn any cost into His Glory. Today would you be reminded of the words in John 14:6 “I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life.” - Jesus.
